This project was created to provide children with malignant bone tumors with life-saving endoprostheses.
Each year, approximately five children receiving treatment at the Pediatric Oncology Surgery and Chemotherapy Department of the Kyiv City Clinical Oncology Center require endoprosthetic surgery.
An endoprosthesis replaces the bone destroyed by the tumor.
Without timely implantation, a child faces either limb amputation or fatal disease progression.
Endoprosthetic surgery allows children to:
- preserve the affected limb,
- avoid amputation,
- survive cancer and regain mobility after treatment.
The average cost of one pediatric endoprosthesis is approximately 1,000,000 UAH, making it inaccessible for most families without charitable support.
Previously, fundraising efforts were organized for individual children, which often resulted in critical delays while funds were being raised.
This project was established to create a centralized reserve fund, ensuring that when a new child urgently requires an endoprosthesis, treatment can begin immediately without life-threatening delays.
All funds raised through this project are used exclusively for the procurement of endoprostheses for children and are administered by the charitable foundation in cooperation with a public medical institution.
